Cultural Entrepreneurship Pilot Program Overview

The Cultural Entrepreneurship Program is a business training program intended for arts and culture entrepreneurs in visual, cultural, performance, artisanal, media, heritage, and culinary arts. The program is designed to help arts and culture entrepreneurs start or expand a business. It is funded through the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development Employment and Infrastructure and delivered through the Orangeville & Area Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC).

The Cultural Entrepreneurship Program provides:

  • Training and business skills development
  • Opportunity to receive grants up to $5,000
  • Mentorship and guidance

Program Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to participate in the Cultural Entrepreneurship program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Create a new business, expand an existing business or buy a business from a retiring entrepreneur – eligible creative sectors include visual, cultural, performance, artisanal, media, heritage, and culinary arts;
  • Participate in training and mentorship sessions;
  • Be an Ontario resident;
  • Be prepared to commit a minimum average of 35 hours per week to running a business and to developing a realistic business plan.
